Positive Reinforcement Training for Working and Pet Gundogs
I run weekly training sessions near Lamport, Northamptonshire. I have access to 4000 acres of training ground including woodland, grassland, and water. I offer group classes, courses, and workshops for dogs and handlers of all levels of ability. If you need a little extra support, we provide 1-2-1 sessions on days and times that are convenient for you. We have a simple aim, to provide advice, guidance, and support that will help achieve your goal.
I have bred, trained, worked, and competed with Gundogs for 20 years. I have been fortunate to have bred my own line of Labradors that have successfully gone on to be amazing loyal family pets, fully trained working dogs, and also competition dogs competing in working tests and field trials. I have been very fortunate to have trained with some of the very best gundog trainers for many years absorbing their wealth of knowledge and expertise.
My career has also enabled me to work with my dogs on some of the most prestigious shoots around. I have been lucky enough and continue to work with my dogs at Rockingham Castle, Drayton Castle, Brian Rice Farms, Prestwold Hall, and Thistleton Shoot as well as many others.
I have successfully competed with my dogs in working tests gaining many awards over the years. I am very proud of what my dogs have achieved. Don’t just take my word for it … see my testimonials below.
Can I bring my family pet to Gundog Training?
Absolutely my clients include both pet gundog breeds as well as working dogs.
Many of the owners that come to us for dog training have no interest in taking their dog on a day's shooting. Many of the core gundog training elements are areas that dog owners feel their pets could improve on. Whether its heelwork, perfect recall or even just ignoring other dogs, gundog training values can help your dog’s obedience.
Owners will often use gundog training as a new and interesting way to train their dog to be more obedient, but in a way that creates breed fulfilment and a strong bond. A happy and contented dog is a better-behaved dog.
Other owners want a fully trained gundog to work within the field. Some go on to become great working dogs, both in the field and in competition.
All courses are held in small groups. I train outdoors to teach real-life skills in the same environment as your dog will ultimately need to use them.

Gundog Puppy Foundation Class
My Puppy Gundog class is the basic introduction into the world of Gundog training. These classes are not only training the dogs but also teaching the owners the skills too and are primarily aimed at working gundogs or pet dog owners who wish to learn more about their dog’s natural skills and abilities.
We will cover: Focus and engagement games, recall, heelwork, steadiness, sit & stay, retrieve and much more.
